Netherlands crumble under pressure again

Put into bat first, the Netherlands started with a boundary from Max O’Dowd but their innings never really settled. Their top and middle order fell apart quickly, with seven batters dismissed for single-digit scores. Only Aryan Dutt (30 off 22), Vikramjit Singh (24) and O’Dowd (12) managed to reach double figures. The Dutch side were bowled out in 17.3 overs, leaving their bowlers with too little to defend.

Nasum Ahmed’s early double strike

Bangladesh brought in Nasum Ahmed in place of Rishad Hossain, and the left-arm spinner delivered instantly. He struck in the third over, first removing O’Dowd who mistimed a short ball to mid-on, and then sent back Teja Nidamanuru off the very next delivery. Nasum later added another wicket to finish with 3 for 21, proving why he is a reliable option in the powerplay.

Taskin and Mustafizur keep Dutch batters tied down

Taskin Ahmed was aggressive with his pace and bounce, dismissing Vikramjit Singh for 24 when the left-hander tried an unconvincing ramp shot. Taskin ended with 2 for 22, and could have had more if not for a dropped catch. Mustafizur Rahman, continuing his fine form, claimed 2 for 18. He trapped Scott Edwards with a smart variation and later knocked over Sikander Zulfiqar. His cutters and slower balls were once again difficult for the visitors to handle. The other wickets came through Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who grabbed one, and Mahedi Hasan, who dismissed Aryan Dutt to wrap up the innings.

Bangladesh’s fielding – sloppy but effective

Although Bangladesh dominated with the ball, their fielding was far from perfect. They missed a couple of run-out opportunities and also dropped a simple catch. However, Saif Hassan provided a moment of brilliance with a sharp direct hit to run out Noah Croes, which added to the Dutch misery.

Dutt provides brief resistance

The only real spark for the Netherlands was Aryan Dutt, who scored 30 runs with two fours and a six – the only maximum of their innings. He looked positive against both pace and spin, but eventually played one shot too many and dragged the ball onto his stumps off Mahedi Hasan. With his dismissal, the Netherlands folded for 103 runs in 17.3 overs.

Emon and Tanzid set up the chase

Chasing a modest target, Bangladesh openers Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan started steadily. Emon survived an LBW review early and played a few crisp boundaries, including Bangladesh’s first six. He made 23 off 20 balls before edging behind off Kyle Klein in the last over of the powerplay. At that stage, Bangladesh were 47/1.

Tanzid’s maiden T20I fifty seals the win

After Emon’s dismissal, Tanzid Hasan took charge and showed great composure. The young left-hander mixed controlled stroke play with clean hitting. He struck five fours and two sixes on his way to an unbeaten 54 off 39 balls, his maiden half-century in T20 internationals. Litton Das (21* off 17) gave him solid support, and together they added an unbeaten 57-run stand for the second wicket. Tanzid reached his fifty in the 13th over and finished the game with a boundary down the ground. Bangladesh ended on 104/1 in 13.1 overs, making the chase look extremely easy.

Series sealed with one match left

This victory gives Bangladesh a 2-0 series win with one match still to be played. The hosts have been dominant in both games, with their bowlers setting the tone and the batters completing the job without fuss. For the Netherlands, their batting has been the biggest letdown, as they have failed to post competitive totals. The final match in Sylhet will now be an opportunity for them to regroup and salvage some pride.
